Doug started the night have a decent drive in the heat race. However after the flag, he came to a stop on the backstretch. When he arrived back to the pits it was discovered the on-board brake was damaged. A valiant effort was made to repair the brake in time to run the B-Feature, but time was against us and Doug was unable to make the call for the B Feature.
Doug finished the night in 13th in the A Feature. We’re looking forward to a better finish on night 2!
A warm and windy spring day greeted Lovegrove racing when they pulled into 81 Speedway in Wichita on Saturday afternoon. The team was looking forward to the start of another race season and ready to start it off right.
The lineups were based on a pill draw and we drew a 2. That means a pole start, and we had the first heat. Doug drove hard for the entire heat race, but a missed setup slid him backwards. Doug crossed the line in fourth, just making the transfer to the A feature.
Starting 11th in the feature, Doug quickly moved up to 10th early and driving for more positions. An abrasive track, caused tire problems for the Kemps Dairy Cow Car midway through the race. Doug pulled off for some quick adjustments and was pushed back on the track to work his way back forward. Restarting from the back of the field, Doug moved around the track to find a fast line to the front eventually, running out of laps, crossing the line in 17th. Next up is the ASCS Midwest Race next Friday and Saturday at Nebraska Raceway Park’s I-80 Speedway. We hope to see you there!
