Eagle Raceway (May 26)
After the makeup races from May 19, the regular night started. During the heat race Doug ran a solid third place which put him into the A Feature. Starting 11th in the A Feature again, Doug made great moves on a fast, rubber down track to 8th position. Not satisfied he continued to look for a faster line, and was able to grab one more position before the checkers flew. With the 7th place finish, Doug felt great and looks forward to the next race.
Boone Co. Speedway (May 25)
A cool, cloudy day greeted the team upon arrival at the Boone County Speedway in Albion, Nebraska. With a good draw Doug started on the pole of the second heat. He made quick laps around the familiar track and easily brought home the heat win. At the redraw during intermission, the number two was drawn – so another great starting spot on the outside front row. Then came the unexpected rains. It rained enough to cancel the remainder of the races for the evening. We’ve been told the sprint A Feature will be ran at the next sprint event on June 15.
Eagle Raceway (May 19, 2012)
With thunderstorms threatening all evening, kept Doug and the crew alert and ready. Doug was able to transfer into the A Feature from the heat race. Doug was set to line up in the 8th row for the A when the storms finally arrived. The feature is scheduled to be ran on Saturday, May 26, 2012, before the regular scheduled night begins.
A FEATURE RESULTS (on May 26) – Starting in the 11th position, Doug looked to make good use of the earlier race time. Doug drove hard and was able to gain a few positions over the next 25 laps. He brought the Fastest Cow on Dirt home in 8th for the first feature of the night.
Eagle Raceway (May 12, 2012)
An uneventful heat race, allowed Doug to transfer to the A feature. Doug started 13th in the A, but was determined to make it to the front. With a great setup, finding great race lines and make excellent moves he drove forward to 5th by the mid-point of the race. Everything was coming together, when the track went rubber down. Fighting a super tight car Doug wrestled the car, kept his elbows up and was able to bring the Fastest Cow on Dirt home in 8th. With another top 10 finish in the books, Doug is still in the top 10 in points and looking forward to the week race.
Eagle Raceway (May 5, 2012)
Doug and the crew looked to improve on the previous weeks race. The night was looking to start tough after the heat race draw was complete. Doug started 7th in the heat and on the first lap wasn’t going to give up the same spot on the track that another competitor wanted to take away. Doug won the battle and was able to move forward to third by the end of the heat. This put him in the redraw for the feature, where he drew a six to start on the outside.
It was evident early in the night, the track was going to be fast for the feature and Doug and the car were ready. With the track taking rubber, Doug kept the car moving forward and was challenging for fourth when a late caution was shown. This created some challenges similar to the previous week. The car cooled off during the laps the safety crew needed to clean up the caution, thus allowing a couple competitors to get underneath Doug on the restart. Doug refused to go backwards and stayed on the gas. He concluded the night finishing seventh, and is looking forward to the next race.
Eagle Raceway (April 28, 2012)
A cool evening was set for the opening night at Eagle Raceway. Doug started the night with a good draw for starting position in the heat race. Starting on the outside pole in the heat, he took off and didn’t look back. He easily maintain second as the checkers flew assuring a start in the A Feature. He actually made the redraw for the front and picked the number five starting position for the feature.
For the feature, Doug drove hard early to third place before a caution. On the restart, things weren’t working the same with the Fastest Cow on Dirt. Doug tried several different lines, looking to find the quickest line around the track, but the car didn’t respond. He attacked each lap looking for the forward moment from earlier, but it never appeared. Doug held on and drove to finish 13th for the opening night. Doug continues to move forward in the field each race night.
ASCS Midwest @ Eagle Raceway (April 20 & 21)
Friday, April 20, started with another challenging starting position, dead last in the heat. Doug took advantage of the situation and was able to pass enough cars in the heat to draw a front row, outside starting position for the B feature. The crew set up the car with a great setup and sent Doug out. Doug was ready to go coming through the corner for the start, but the pole sitter didn’t share Doug’s enthusiasm. Doug got passed by several cars on the start and was able to track them back down. Unfortunately, Doug was not able to take the final transfer position for the evenings A Feature. It was a solid run to build on for the Saturday race.
Saturday, April 21 was another night that Doug and the team continued to build upon. A good run in the heat race put Doug near the front for the B Feature. Doug drove The Fastest Cow on Dirt to a transfer spot in the A Feature. Starting in the back of the A Feature would be no easy challenge to move forward as the track was gaining speed. Doug was ready and drove hard. He tried several different race lines, working his way forward on every lap. Doug finished the night in 15th, and was looking forward to next weeks racing at Eagle.
ASCS Midwest @ I-80 (April 6 & 7)
The opening weekend for Lovegrove Racing was filled with excitement for the start of the 2012 season.
Friday night started with a challenge as Doug would start deep in the heat race field. Doug drove hard and was able to grab a couple positions by the finish. However, it was not enough to make the transfer to the A Feature. Starting near the back of the field for the B Feature, Doug looked to make the transfer to the main event. Doug drove deep and hard on each lap, but he ran out of laps and was able to finish a solid 12th in the B.
Saturday night starting position looked to be an improvement, starting up front. In his heat race Doug drove deep into the corner, but the car setup didn’t hold the line he drove. Doug went backwards several positions and missed the A Feature transfer. The track for B Feature proved to challenge any driver wanting to move forward. Doug was again deep in the field for the start, but persisted in driving hard and was able to gain a few positions before the checkered flag. He finished the night with a 7th place finish.
